What is Wide Dynamic Range?

DEFINITIONS

Dynamic Range is the Luminous Ratio of the darkest point in an image to the brightest point.

Saturation is a measure of the purity of a color. As the saturation of the color increases, the appearance becomes more powerful and vivid. As the saturation decreases, the color goes towards gray, mixing with neutral gray.

COMPARISONS

When?

If the Illumination ratio is high in the image, the cameras have difficulty showing details in places with low and high light.

Because cameras have to choose SHORT or LONG exposure. This also affects the light coming into the camera.

COMPRARISONS

Combined Exposure

For Wide Dynamic Range, cameras use two types of methods. The first of these is the Combined Exposure (Multi –Shutter) technique, which is indicated as a True Wide Dynamic Range.

In this method, these images are combined by taking an image with exposure in at least two ways for the same image. Thanks to this, the result is obtained closer to the truth.

Digital Wide Dynamic Range

In the Digital Wide Dynamic Range technique, the cameras analyze the light received in the environment, determine the appropriate dynamic range and take a single image. These operations are performed on the camera's Digital Signal Processor. The new generation of digital signal processors has come very close to the real wide dynamic range.
